Switching spindle off disconnect usb?!

Post by jfboyd » Tue Oct 27, 2015 11:35 pm

Any idea why after a job when I turn off my dewalt 611, Carbide Motion shows my S3 as disconnected and I hear the usb disconnected sound as if controller board was resetted. So weird has there is no link between router and board...

USB disconnect from Shapeoko 3 with Dewalt Dpw611.
After spending many hours reading this forum and trying different solutions mentioned here. Some solution work, but intermittent.

There was one user here that plug the router directly to a powerbar and use that as ON/OFF switch. This seems to work for me, cutting 6 jobs, change bit etc. and no usb disconnect. Strange low tech solution that work for me.

Thanks

I had disconnects too - but only sometimes. What I realized was that the disconnects on router power off only happen when the controller is plugged into a USB3 port. My laptop has both USB2 and USB3 ports - the USB2 ports have no issue, but the USB3 ports have a disconnect when I power the router off.

If you don't know what type you have, USB3 ports have an SS in front of the USB symbol. USB2 ports do not.
