Where is the "One-Pager" for Spindle Control?

Post by mankyd » Sat Dec 19, 2015 2:06 am

I have seen in several places mention of a one-pager for doing spindle control with the 6 pins on the left side of the board. Is that ever coming?

I don't know when that page is coming. I ended up reverse engineering the pinout. I hope that helps.

Hi,

have a look here (from here: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0&start=10):

Its the header next to the power jack - not the one close to the USB port - also note that the board is upside down.

This is Estlcams "GRBL PWM" pin layout - there is a subtle difference to GRBL 0.9 with PWM enabled:
Estlcams "on / off" (top / center) pin is "spinde direction" for GRBL. GRBL itself only offers either on / off or PWM but not both at the same time.

That's not exactly true. If you recompile the GRBL code, you can repurposed the spindle direction pin to be used as the spindle on/off signal. The PWM pin is separate. See my link above.

Awesome. After recompiling GRBL with the changes documented here, I now have gcode spindle control. Thanks!
