after up grading my 250mmx250mm shapeoko to a 1Mx1M my Y axis is skipping at high feeds.
the way it skips is like it walk left / right thin loses it place on a job when i run a lower feed in the same job.
whats the best way to fix this?
the belts are tight.
skips after 30 in/min
could not find right threads for the old 2 any more or help threads

You may need to reduce feed rates and/or acceleration.
For the larger machines, I believe that 9mm wide belts are a big help.

what causes the belts to jump not enough tooth's catching or are the belts flexing?

The SO2 doesn't have as much belt engagement as the SO3, and the longer belt means that belt tension will vary more at the center.

If it's the Y axis...what I'm taking to mean the axis with the two Nema17's driving it, then you might have a mismatch in belt tension between the two. Park your Y axis somewhere in the middle of the rail and pluck each belt like a string. Listen to see if they're basically the same pitch. If not, adjust until they are. Just my humble opinion...
