Loose Z axis mounting plate - cant seem to tighten
Havent used my machine in a few weeks.
After just setting it up I noticed the Z axis mounting plate was really loose.
Ii appears like all the screws are tight , so why is it so loose?
Anyone know what could be causing this?
I attached a link showing the problem.
Thanks

Your V-wheels are awfully loose. You need to adjust the eccentric nuts.

I had this problem too. Unfortunately, turning the eccentric nuts just wouldn't tighten the v-wheels enough. Turns out that I had the 2 Z-Axis gantry-like pieces (the silver pieces that the v-wheels ride on) too far apart. Once I moved them closer together, I was able to get proper tension with the v-wheels by adjusting the eccentric nuts. Just something else to consider.cvoinescu wrote:Your V-wheels are awfully loose. Yes...It was the eccentric nuts on the V wheels.
Thanks!
I have definitely got to get a bright shop light to look at these things in a semi dark garage!

Re: Loose Z axis mounting plate - cant seem to tighten
If the problem still isn't solved, you may have a cracked/broken V-wheel. That is a problem that I had from a cut failure and it crashing into the material while still moving.
Re: Loose Z axis mounting plate - cant seem to tighten
You can also move the Z axis rails closer to each other if the eccentric nuts don't tighten enough and it is not a cracked wheel.
