Things I found in assembling mine, in no particular order were
The Y axis plugs are reversible. In order, on the board, they are the second and third plugs. If your machine jogs backwards, reverse them.
The homing process needs to be added to both the controller and software.
The table dimensions need to be changed for the XXL version.
Mark your cables with the sharpie. Mark the connectors too. There's more room to write on them.
If your machine runs really slow after changing things, power it down, turn off your computer and start completely over.

Great tips!
To expand upon that last --- it's more likely that you were trying to run the machine with the Log window open --- closing it should get the machine running at full speed again.
