Taking a look at the Shapeoko 3 I purchased used, things look pretty darn good except for the z-axis rails, they seem pretty buggered-up. The crest on which the pulleys ride is scratched and pitted.
With the spindle removed and the springs still attached, how smoothly should the z-axis move up/down? I seem to meet some resistance as I'm pushing it down and then when it lifts again.
I figured I'd order the maintenance kit but was wondering if I can get the z-axis rails somewhere?

I'm afraid these are a proprietary extrusion --- that said, after you purchase a maintenance kit, reference this post with an extra e-mail to support@carbide3d.com and I'll arrange for us to send you a replacement set of rails.
