Looking for Recommendations on Laptop for the Woodshop

Post by acousticplayer » Sun Oct 17, 2021 8:44 pm

I am interested to hear what others are doing for laptops to control the CNC. I would like it to be dedicated to the workshop so I am trying to keep the price fairly low.

The requirements for Create (I would like to run both Create and Motion) are:
Windows 8.1 and 4GB RAM

I would like to stay with Windows and stay with 10 or 11. I have never owned a laptop with less than 32GB RAM so I am a little hesitant. I don't have experience with other OS's.

Will the chrome books with 4GB Ram run both Create and motion? I am not familiar with the chrome os.
If not I was thinking a refurbished low end laptop for 200-$400.

Any comments, suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I use a Samsung Galaxy Book 12, which is getting long in the tooth, but which I despair of replacing, since I prefer to have a Wacom EMR stylus, and mislike what Microsoft has done to styluses in Fall Creators Update and later.
