y-axis whine

Post by seigenblues » Mon Dec 03, 2012 6:58 am

Hey all, would appreciate a bit of help.

Just got things up and running, X-axis works, z-axis electrically is fine but the coupler doesn't turn the threaded rod, but no worries there

Problem is the y-axis just makes a little whine; light on the grblshield is on a bit longer than when running the same command on the x-axis. It doesn't seem to even be trying to move. Any ideas?

I can put up a vid tomorrow, but curious if that sounds familiar to anyone.

thanks much!

Tension of the belts, vwheels? belt should be snug, vwheels should be just tight enough to hold the arms to the makerslide.

You can adjust the tension of the VWheels with the excentric nuts that you installed. (if the belts are not attached, the gantry system should roll about with very little pressure, and roll smoothly in both the x and y direction).

Another thing could be perhaps the config for you motor isn't setup correctly, or that you have wires crossed.

Yep, one of the stepper pairs was crossed. I ran new wires and now all is good & happy, just have some major z-axis wobble.

Thanks for the help!
