Source for tiny heatsinks for Pololu drivers?

Post by ThatOtherGuy435 » Sun Mar 17, 2013 1:36 pm

Does anyone have a handy source for heat sinks small enough to fit on the Pololu boards? Digikey and Mouser don't seem to carry anything that small, and I'd like to see about getting a few spares to keep on hand for my 'backup' driver boards.

See this thread. Amazon and Newegg have them. They work pretty good, I think ideally I would attach all 4 drivers to a big copper CPU heatsink with a fan. That may be harder to work with though.

With that to put me on the right track, http://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Aluminum-C ... 007XACV8O/ also appear to be the right size. Unfortunately I only found these after ordering the more expensive Enzotech ones! Oops.

I superglued small chunks of aluminum to the polulu chips, then used heatsinks that would have been slightly too large. It has been working fine so far.

I carry the shorter aluminum version.
Build it better than it was built for you. And give permission for the next guy to do the same. That's how Open Source works.
