What stepper field and stepper drive for this motor

Post by jahn » Fri Apr 13, 2012 9:19 am

Hi ,
I am going to use this kind of motor

Step angle( °) 0.9
Length MotorL(㎜)48
Rate Voltage(V) 2.4
Rate Current(A) 2.4
Phase Resistance(Ω)1
Phase Inductance(mH) 1.8
Holding Torque(g.cm) 4800
Lead Wire(NO.) 4
Rotor Inertir(g.C㎡) 68
Detent Torque(g.㎝)260

Can anyone please let me know what stepper field and stepper driver should I use?
I can see that Rate Current and Holding Torque are higher than those with the motor suggested by Edward.
The reason is that I can buy this motor at good price
Thanks

Actually the holding torque is about the same (48 v. 47.1 N.cm), and I'm not sure there's any other benefit to increased current.
Most of the drivers mentioned on the forums will allow 2.5A draw, so you should be OK there.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stepper field". Did you mean stepper shield?

I am sorry,I meant
stepper shield.
So do you think stepper shield and stepper drivers recommended by Edward will be OK for my motors as well?

I think all of the shields mentioned by Edward work for your application. As long as the drivers you choose have a current limiting design, it shouldn't really matter which shield you use.

I should mention that the Pololu drivers seem to be limited to 2A, so possibly it makes more sense to use a grblShield than the buildlog.net shield and Pololu drivers.
