Power Supply Chirping Noise?

Post by jp-23 » Thu May 01, 2014 2:23 am

Hi All,

Just got my Shapeoko 2 kit and going through the set up. I'm doing the electronic tests now and when I plug in the power source, I hear a chirping noise coming out of it. The stepper motors are not working. I've double checked all of my connections and think I'm good there. Has anyone else seen (heard) this? Did I get a bad power source?

Thanks,
Jeff

Double check the polarity of your wires to the gshield. If they're backwards, it makes that noise.

Try connecting a dummy load to your PSU, maybe 10 ohms or so across the 12 volt rail with the stepper drivers disconnected. If all is well, you could probably narrow the issue down to your electronics outside the PSU.

It was the polarity. The barrel plug chord was labelled backwards! Thanks guys.
