Digital Display for Speed Controller?

Post by izumi5188 » Thu Mar 12, 2015 5:42 pm

Has anyone seen a digital display that can be out put the speed/percentage the standard speed controller is outputting? 0-100% sort of display?

You would also want it display over 100 percent of set value so you could monitor control loop overshoot.

I'm really not well versed in what is out there, but doesn't mach 3 have the capability to give a readout of spindle rpm?

Depending on your programming and hardware skills, such a readout is not that difficult.

Hi,
I'm a newbie with my Shapeoko, and also with electronics and I wouldn't be able to code a function allowing me to do this. I suspect that to code this, should be a micro-controller dedicated only to this!
I don't want to use Mach3, just my Arduino with grbl and UGCS.

Sorry for double deutch language but i'm French.

Look at this: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=6311
Implementing a Display should be easy. I have a working version for analog Displays (vu-meters).
Pros: -you have a fully working pid Controller
-readout of the Speed is accurate (look at that graph in the link, rpm/pwm Ratio isnt linear!)
