Re: S3 stops mid-job
Carbide just shipped my new power supply, if they aren't expensive I'd give it a try...my bet is it's the supply's output is fluctuating.
Good luck
Good luck

5" circle pocket 1.0" depth 0.125" bit, 0.1" per pass 75ipm. Total faux cut time was 52 minutes.
I left the router in so basically the only difference was any additional torque created by cutting. It completed successfully and I was able to jog the machine afterwards without issue.
I noticed the router has a ferrite ring on it so I'm not sure what's causing (the assumed) EMI.

Re: S3 stops mid-job
I wouldn't presume the router has a ferrite ring, most power tools which have what looks like a ferrite core is actually a theft deterrent device.

I'm not aware of those being attached to products, just to packaging. Do you have a source for that information?LTEPM wrote:I wouldn't presume the router has a ferrite ring, most power tools which have what looks like a ferrite core is actually a theft deterrent device.

Nothing really definitive here, but the dewalt router is specifically mentioned as it not having enough mass to be anything but just plastic on page 3 and a claimed electrical engineer chimes in on page 4 post #53cvoinescu wrote:I'm not aware of those being attached to products, just to packaging. Interesting. I haven't noticed them in the shops around here, but I haven't been looking carefully (or opening their boxes) either. From that conversation, it does seem they're anti-theft devices (but not RFID).

Interestingly some of the ferrite beads look like the clips for the RFID tags:

suggestions on differentiating one from the other?
I'm guessing the ferrite bead should attract a magnet?

Re: S3 stops mid-job
If it's a clip-on ferrite core, they're usually removable (which a good anti-theft device would not be) and the ferrite is exposed where the halves meet (it needs to be for it to work properly). And yes, ferrite would be attracted strongly by a magnet.

Re: S3 stops mid-job
If you try to open it and it sprays you with ink, it's not a ferrite.

Well I opened up the one on my Dewalt 611 and definitely just one of those magnetic anti-theft strips in there.
