1/8" Female spade connectors for micro-switches?

Post by wcpenney » Tue Oct 25, 2016 4:05 pm

I bought a bunch of roller micro switches to setup limit / homing for my Shapeoko 2. Happily, they have an inline hole pattern that fits the little slot on the carriage plates nicely. On the other hand, the male spade connectors measure .124" wide X .020" thick X .150" long.

I've searched around quite a bit (Digi-key, Mouser, Amazon, E-Bay, McMaster Carr, Grainger, etc.) I've found a few industrial suppliers that make female connectors in that size, (Dolphin for instance) but I can't find a retailer to buy them from.

Is anyone familiar with or using those types of connectors? I would think 1/8" spade connectors would be a fairly common size in the US, but a trip to a few auto part stores has left me empty handed. I'm looking for plain solder type but I'm not fussy. I can cut off vinyl covers if need be and solder the crimp style ones. I really don't want to solder to the switch lugs directly. The switches are small, and I have already thinned out the plastic around the lugs reaming the mounting holes out for 4-40 hardware after a fruitless search for #3's or 2mm machine screws that were long enough. Nothing is ever easy

Radio Shack used to carry them; too bad they went out of business. I don't know of any other local retail store that has them.

I did find a few options online:

RoguePirin, thanks for looking around.

I saw mention in a few places that 3M .110 X .020 female disconnects were sized to fit 1/8" (.124") tabs. I ordered a few .110 X .020's from Amazon (NSI Industries) that were "Prime" available, and they fit perfectly. I picked up a box: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CT ... UTF8&psc=1

Oh, man. I wish that I would have known that you were looking at 0.110 quick disconnects. First, I don't know if they are all built to common specifications, but there are cheaper options:

Second, I bought the ones linked above a few years ago and probably have dozens of spares left over that I could have sent over. Regardless, I am glad that it all worked out for you.
