Limit Hookup Wire

Post by johnelle » Sat Jul 15, 2017 3:48 pm

My limit switches were part of a kit from Carbide with the pigtails attached. We all know you can replace the switches with https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... ND/2698560 but where do you acquire the wire that forms the nice heavy duty twisted pair on each switch (aside from grave robbing the bad ones ;-))

I believe it's shielded security wire.

Most larger hardware stores will have a carrel or rack near the electrical wiring area which has spools of wire which are sold by the foot.

Hmmm. Well that may work but its clearly not what Carbide is using. My switches came connected to two single conductor, approximately 18 gauge, wires that have been twisted together. There is no shield. The wire is fairly stiff so that they stay twisted but its not single strand.

Would it be possible to ask?

...and while you're asking could you find out why the store seems to always be out-of-stock on the small bits? (sorry to jump the thread)

I asked.

Not sure why we have trouble keeping some things in stock. Wish we'd allow pre-orders / back-orders.
