Zerblatt's build

Post by zerblatt007 » Sun Mar 10, 2013 12:45 pm

My goal is to minimize dust and noise, and still have the rig placed in my loft.
It getting kind of big now, so I will have to take it apart to get it up there.

Thanks!
It is not enormous actually. More like 800 x 200 i think.
I'll see if I need more in the X direction later on, as everything is set up so I can extend X from stock makerslides to 500mm ones.

I just wanted more space in the Y direction so it would be easier to place sheets into the milling area.

Sourced all panels, only need hinges and a few more profiles to tighten the box.. :)
The box will probably vibrate a lot when running, so I plan to insert mats to dampen sound on the plywood walls and rubber feet from a washing machine on the box itself.

Does the cable drag chain for the gantry interfere w/ travel at the far end of the Y-axis?

Why is it rotated 90 degrees from what's typical?

It compresses the drag chain a little bit, but I am probably not going to use that part all to the right too often.. :)
It was easier to get the cables where I wanted them that way without drilling to fasten any brackets.
If I take it apart again to extend X, I probably will mount it the normal way.

Will it be ok to mount the Kress all the way down by the edge on this 10mm alu piece?
I did want to screw it to the makerslide on the bottom, but I do want the full range also..

Any suggestions?

That's something I've been wondering about, given the oft-noted lever arm effects of raising i\one's machine.
