The build for the motor mounts etc has started... its probably good to note for anyone in the future that if you are using Nema23's instead of the 17's that the (4x) 5mm x 10mm bolts will not be enough with the washers and such to connect the nuts on the other end.

You will need a longer bolt more like 14-15mm to be safe.

That might have been said somewhere and I didn't catch it when ordering from Inventables.

Just to note as its my first hick-up on the build.

Also,
The eccentric spacers are not sitting flush.... I will have to drill the holes out a bit more with 9/32 bit thanks to IC for the info.

Silly question here, how do you know what ShapeOko ### you are? I don't see anything on the Invoice, etc.

Thanks.

update - sanded all panels, drilled all 9/32 holes and now ready for paint.
off to the hardware store for some primer and paint.

update - primer coat on, will let it cure til tomorrow for the good coat of Burnt Rust, love that colour.
My attempt of a paint room. I have my shop vac at the bottom sucking all the overspray. It actually worked pretty good.

Its finally done Mechanically. On to the electronics and adding the Belts. I didn't seem to get how to install the Belts with what was provided. I didn't want to just a use the Tie-Straps.
I am going to the hardware store tonight to get something else based on other ShapeOko Successes (thanks to the wiki)

I do however have a few extra parts which is always alarming. I assume from ordering the Z-axis upgrade Kit and the Dual X-Axis Kit and not using the Nema 17's would be the cause. I have attached the list if someone should think otherwise.

Extra Remaining parts…

8x ¼” Nylon Spacer (SM-H01)
14x ¾” Nylon Spacer (SM-H02)

2x Insertion Nuts (SM-H11) (4 were for the Motor Mounts on Z-Axis)

18x M3 Flat Washers (for Nema 17)
18x M3 x 6mm SHCS (for Nema 17)
3x M3 x 50mm SHCS (SM-H06) (for Nema 17)

6x M5 x 10mm SHCS
3x M5 x 16mm SHCS (SM-H13)
2x M5 x 20mm SHCS
8x M5 x 30mm SHCS (SM-H08)
4x M5 x 55mm SHCS (SM-H09)

2x M8 Hex Nut (SM-H10) (For Z-Axis Original)
2x Z-Mount Plate w/ Bearing (For Z-Axis Original)
1x Z-Coupler for Nema17 (For Z-Axis Original)
2x Spacers (For Z-Axis Original)

2x 5mm Pulley (MSK01-09) (For Nema17's, 1 for X and 1 for Y)

2x Spindle Mount Blocks/Straps (Standard Issue)

I need to order a power supply and figure out with the help of the wiki how to get this TinyG going. ;-)

Stay tuned.

I absolutely love this color and the nema23's look so killer!! You are nailing it so far! Not sure why you have the leftover pieces but if you turn it on and it shakes itself into a pile of rubble you will know you forgot something

Yep, awesome color. It goes well with the cedar? dresser in the background.

Ha, that is funny, I hope not... With all the Lock-Tite on there, it would have to be an earthquake. ;-)

Thanks for the post. I enjoy the colour too. ;-)
