new update, just found out that Open Rail is sold in Canada now. That makes me so happy as I can now extend the build to 800x800

http://accorra.com/store/

The reason why this makes me happy as to order MakerSlide or Extrusion from the US is crazy on the tariff to get it into Canada. I thought NAFTA was there to really make no borders between Canada and USA. Oh well, I am extending as soon as I get my main build running.

Off to the basement to sand/prime/paint.

Now I need to get my Extrusion so that I can hook these bad boys up.

I just ordered my power supply. TinyG recommended the NES-350-24 from MeanWell, well they are discontinued. I was able to order the S-350-24, exact same for the most part. (COST $40USD)

That should arrive in a week and we are off to the races.

Its been slow, but its finally happening.

Stay tuned.

Latest purchases, Thanks to Accorra in Toronto...
I am planning to extend the frame via the X and the Y by approximately... 1000mm x 1000mm.
I will be using the new open ended plates thanks to our friends in the UK.

I have yet to finish the painting on the plates... but that will happen soon.

Stay tuned... i have to put together the Open Rail and 80/20 extrusions.
I am going to get a 40mmx40mm extrusion instead of putting 2x 20mmx40mm side by side.

Power supply has not arrived yet. Hopefully soon.

Stay tuned.

Question to all...
What is the size of the spacer between the Nema Motors and the Motor Plate for Outside Belt Assembly? is it 1.5 inches?

That should work. You just need enough spacing material to put the pulley where you need it to be --- I think you might be able to make 1" work.

I've used a couple of different spacing setups w/ my drive shaft upgrade:

- a pair of 3/4" nylon spacers per bolt for 1.5" total
- a 1.5" 7/32" roll pin and a bunch of washers
- (current) a 1.5" 7/32" roll pin, a 1/2" aluminum spacer and a couple of washers

My suggestion would be to buy 3 10 packs of spacers, one 1/4", one 1/2", one 3/4" --- you should be able to do pretty much any length desired by assembling different sets --- fine tune things w/ washers.

Alternately, assemble w/ stacks of washers, measure when done, then purchase exactly the spacing material needed.

I used 7/8"

I wouldn't go much smaller than that.

Thanks for the responses..
I will see what I can source locally before I buy online.

Also, forgot to mentioned that I was able to obtain 5 meters of 20/40 Extrusion for $30 CDN Cash.
I needed to add that to my BOM.

IPEC in Concord.
I got the last 4 meter sticks of 80/20 20-2040 but he is ordering some more this week for next.
it costs approx $50-$60 per 4 meters... 4000mm, Hey gave me a great deal as I ordered 8 meters, I drove down and he assured me he had it but when I was there he only had 5. So he gave it all to me for $30.

His Price is cheaper than the other guy in GTA/Ontario.

I am going back to ordered 20-4040 I am going to use 40mmX40mm for the Y Axis instead of 2x 20x40. I figure it would be a solide piece and i already have my openRail from Accorra.

This is coming alive soon. Just waiting for my power supply.

I am struggling on whether to use the full 1m x 1m or to make it a little smaller as it would be a big square.

I use 15/16" nylon spacers, because they work perfectly with M3 x 30 mm screws. 3/4" is too cramped, and for 1" there aren't any screws that work (would need 31-32 mm). With male-female threaded metal spacers, anything between 20 mm and 30 mm works, but 25 mm is ideal. If using the standard end plates, you may want to go with 30 mm and put the idlers on 1/4" spacers, or the belt won't clear the edge of the end plate (I don't have the Shapeoko model handy -- take this with a grain of salt and check first; 25 mm may still be fine if you invert the pulley on the shaft).
