But the CAM operation in pyCAM was estimated to take over a day.... guess I'll have to use my son's gaming machine.

Eventually though, I managed to get a decent file, which I sort of managed to cut:

But, I then chose to:
- flatten layers to dxfs
- import into Freehand to clean up
- export as svg from Inkscape
- process each layer in MakerCAM
