In this new GrblGru version V1.17 I have tried to adapt GrblGru to the popular program F-Engrave.
Therefore I have created a function to import NC-Files, which are created by F-Engrave.
This makes it possible, to transform F-Engrave to curved surfaces.

A further advantage is to divide your end depth into several infeeds. Please see the following picture.
In the example I have chosen a sum of infeed = 3.1 mm.
This will be splitted into three infeed with 1 mm and one with 0.1 mm for finishing.

Have fun with GrblGru

I just installed v1.17 on my Win 7 laptop. The setup dialog didn't ask me to choose a data folder, and it didn't create an icon on my desktop. The icon isn't a big deal, but I think the data folder is an issue because of write permissions needed. I ran setup.exe as administrator.

First of all, thank you for trying GrblGru.

Please see the attached pdf-file. I have made some screenshots during the installation from V1.17. This is the situation if everything looks fine.

To solve the problem I have some questions to you:

1. Is this the first GrblGru installation on this pc, or is there also an older version ?
2. Do you use the default folder or do you changed the application folder ? (#3)
3. Do you see the installation window when you start Setup.exe ? (#3)
4. Do you get the window 'installation successful'? (#4)
5. Do you find the files in your application folder (#5)
6. Do you see the empty data folder C:\ProgramData\grblgru ? (#6)
7. Can you start GrblGru.exe in the application folder ? (#5)

Sorry, that I take your time. But I am very interested to fix this problem and I will do my very best.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. I don't think so
5. Yes
6. Don't know (I'm not at that computer right now)
7. Yes

Windows did give me a dialog box that said the installation may not have performed correctly. I clicked on the button that said it did install correctly, even though I wasn't sure.

Thanks for your answers.
The dialog box that said the installation may not have performed correctly comes up because Windows do not find an uninstallation program. You can ignore this.

Do you see the GrblGru main-window ? (#8).
Please , could you describe what happens when you start GrblGru.exe.
Could you start some example ? (File-Examples-Simulation: GrblGru@ShapeOko)
Why do you think there is a permissions problem whith the data folder ?
Do you get some error messages ?

I do see the GrblGru main-window.
The first time I started GrblGru it said it could not write to the INI file, so I changed the properties so it would run as administrator. Running as administrator I don't get the write to ini error message. This is why I thought there was a problem. When I'm back at that computer, I'll check for the data directory.

Ok, you are right. The Data-folder, respectively the write permission should be the main problem.
The path 'ProgramData' is recommended by the OS for the application data. I create this folder in the setup program.
The application copied all data to this folder, when you start the GrblGru. Also the ini-file is stored in the AppData.
It seems that the application have no write permission to its own AppData path.

Please, could you try to start GrblGru also as admin ?
Could you delete the AppDataPath before you start the setup.

Here is some new try (only if you like to test)

In V1.19 I don't create the AppDataPath in the setup. The application create the path by starting the first time.
Now the application MUST have write permission.

Thank you for your patience.

Setup did not create a ProgramData directory. I'm going to delete everything and install v 1.19 now.

I installed v1.19 - seemed to go okay. Setup.exe didn't create the data folder, but I'm assuming you got rid of that. I did expect it to put an icon on y desktop, but it didn't do that. When I opened GrblGru everything seems fine, no error messages. I did notice clicking on various help items from the main drop down doesn't do anything.
