Good point. I failed to consider that the inside pocket won't clear for an outer profile.

So I used my SVG in MakerCAM and managed to get the tool paths correct, following the advice here. I did the Diamond/Circle/Square tutorial and learned a bunch. Then I used the strategy outlined about above and created the paths.

Here is the results, cut on a scrap of ash.
