Vectric Software

Hi ya'll,

I was using Vectric Aspire/VCarve Pro with my Next Wave CNC machine. I ordered a Shapeoko XXL and have a question.

I see that there is a post processor for Shapeoko listed with the Vectric software. Will this work with the Shapeoko or is it a mistake? When I create a file and try to load it directly to the CNC machine (NOTE!!!!! no machine is currently hooked up to computer this was just a test) it will not let me click on the block that allows you to do this. Does it have to be connected first? Will this even work? Has anyone used any of the Vectric software with the Shapeoko machines? I find the Carbide Create is very restrictive but find the Fusion360 much more than I want to mess with. The Vectric VCARVE PRO is perfect and hope I can use that. Otherwise, I will just have to go back to Next Wave Shark. Thanks for all the help...

Jeff

Vectric has included a "post-processor" for the Shapeoko (a pair of them actually, one for Imperial measure, one for metric) since v8.5 --- please let us know if you have any difficulties accessing them. Their "install" procedure is to move the one you want to move into a specific directory and then that one will be used and the others ignored:
"C:\ProgramData\Vectric\VCarve Desktop\V9.0\PostP\Shapeoko_inch.pp"
"C:\ProgramData\Vectric\VCarve Desktop\V9.0\PostP\Shapeoko_mm.pp"
copy whichever of those you would prefer to use into
C:\ProgramData\Vectric\VCarve Desktop\V9.0\My_PostP
and then it'll be the only one you see.
The community has some notes on this as well: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php ... e#2.5D_CAM as well as links to community-maintained post-processors which have some nifty features.
