All the scaling is wrong. Heekscad and inkscape

Post by kf4mot » Sat Nov 24, 2012 4:23 pm

What am I doing wrong here?
Opening the DW660 dxf file in inkscape and it shows up about 1 inch wide.
Same file in Heeks shows up less than 0.11 inch wide.
Both are wrong but not sure why and what the solution is?

I'm having the same problem with Heeks. Cambam works fine but my trial period is running out.

Heeks just seems really temperamental to me.
Some days it works fine and other days not so much.

My scaling problem went away when I started using my own drawings.
Now today it can't make tabs properly while it was working fine earlier?

Heeks and Inkscape are really dodgy with dxf files. I have found that using other software to load the dxf and exporting a new dxf file really helps out. I am using Librecad for that. By loading a 'buggy' dxf into LibreCad and exporting to dxf has relieved quite a few dxf import issues with Heekscnc.

Just my personal experience with Inkscape and Heekscnc. Unfortunately I haven't found out how to convert to paths with LibreCad, but I can't say that I have really tried to as yet. It does move up the list as Heekscnc seems to like dxf files that are all paths and Heekscnc does produce decent gcode. It just needs an optimizer to help speed up the execution of the gcode.

It just occured to me that the scaling issue may be units of measure related. If you save the dxf in inches and open it in mm the scaling would be off from the expected.

All my work is in inches.
I have noticed when I save as a "big blue" dxf it scales wrong but if I use the inkscape default dxf it scales fine.
