Does it have a 115200 setting?
(0.9g GRBL uses that speed)

I think it does, however in this thread I mentioned that I had trouble uploading the 0.9 GRBL into my Arduino board, so I had to upload the 0.8 instead, which connects at 9600.

Also, I thought only the upload for version 0.9 was done at 115200, but the connection was still at 9600 ? Did I miss something ?

The baud rate for communication depends on what version of 0.9 you have. 0.9g does use the higher rate, whereas I believe earlier versions were still at 9600.

The data rate for the upload of any version, or, indeed, anything at all, not just GRBL, to the Arduino Uno, is 115,200 bps. This is determined by the Arduino bootloader, not by what you are uploading.

The stock builds of GRBL 0.8 communicate at 9,600 bps (but that's just a default, it can be recompiled with 115,200, for instance). At some point along the 0.9 branch, the default changed to 115,200 bps, so stock 0.9g builds use that speed for communication.

I'll definitely have a look at the baud rates for later 0.9 versions.
I'm actually on version 0.9a.

Any updates on controlling the shapeoko and gshield with an android device? It would be nice to use my nexus 7 to send gcode rather than a PC if this is an option.

Hi chomdh,

I'm in the process of buying a new house, so I haven't really had the time to check on the shapeoko recently.
I did try to use Easel but there's something that needs to be installed and no package exists for Android.

Otherwise all my other tests failed, I tried a few "g-code" or "3d printer" apps for Android.

I'll keep searching.

It's a Python package.

And if you check Google Play, you'll find a Python interpreter.
I just haven't had time to check for the additional packages needed(Tkinter and PySerial)
(I've only gotten as far as installing Python, yet)

I'm still interested in this topic and may give it a try on my Android tab just to experiment, BUT I just became much less interested in this topic having acquired an old WinXP laptop! I finally have a dedicated CNC computer for the garage.
