The printer is working fine. It's the learning curve and the fact that I have too many other projects that is holding me back. :)

I would say for the money this is a great deal on an entry level 3D printer. It seems to do a pretty good job.

I would say "go for it."

Just for reference incase anyone else wants one like this, a place in New Hampshire is selling them for $334.24 shipped. You will get it a lot quicker then from China.

I am not affiliated. I was actually considering this model because it's one state from me, but I opted to pay twice as much for a 12" MakerFarm version with the linear V rails.

that's missing a couple of things and need to be considered in the cost...

Items you will need:
Tools
Filament
8x8 Glass Print Area (Lowes or Home Depot)
LCD Display Controller

I didn't even notice this one came without the LCD. The glass and tools are no biggy, but the two rolls of filament, that adds a little more value. Good catch. I went with the Prusa i3v for twice the price and it didn't come with filament or glass either.

The one I got from China came with everything except the glass. I'm currently printing PLA on blue painters tape stuck directly to the aluminum heated bed. Seems to stick pretty well.

I'll have to get some glass when I start printing with ABS.

Just an update - I sent a note to SunHokey asking for the config file they used to build Marlin for the controller.

They sent a file back. I'll attach it here.

I'm probably going to try and update the firmware this evening. I'll report back. Hope I don't brick it. ;)

It is hard to brick an Arduino using their IDE.

If you do, the boot loader can be reflashed although that's a little more work.

Just don't fry the chips. I didn't notice what board they supply but if it is RAMPS and you want to run it above 12VDC, there is a diode that needs to be unsoldered or the Arduino voltage regulator will run hot. Look on the RepRap wiki for details.

It is a RAMPS, but the power supply they send is 12v, so that what I'm currently running it with.

Good to know about the change if I want to up the voltage.

I successfully upgraded the firmware to the latest Marlin version. I even ran the PID auto tune for the hot end and the bed and entered those values.

I'll attach the Configuration.h file that I used. You should probably run your own auto tunes though.
