Stepper Motor Swap

Post by supergokougt » Mon May 11, 2015 1:19 pm

A bit off topic but I have a FS LASER CUTTER and one of the stepper motors went bad. The company is trying to charge $100 but everywhere else I look for motors they seem to be under $25.

The only writing on the motor is:
STEPPING MOTOR
TYPE 42BYGH108-31
CW NO: 12.06.28

I was hoping someone would be able to help me source this part.

We list at least one company which carries stepper motors on the Vendors page: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Vendors

I'm pretty certain a couple of the Specialty Vendors do as well --- it would be nice to update that page so that it was easier to find who sold what --- but I haven't been able to find time / occasion.

My dad has a FS laser and when he built a rotary for it we searched all over the internet for one with the same spec. with no luck. He ended up buying one from them but I thought it was ~$50.00. I think they have the motors built just for them.

I found this through an amazon vendor. http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/nema-1 ... -p-66.html

They order all their parts from China and I think maybe assemble in US.
