How long does your CNC woodworking machine use?

I am very interested in CNC woodworking machines in recent days.I found they are so expensive.I wonder how long a CNC Router lasts.

The ShapeOko is a fairly new machine, in use since just early 2012 for the aluminum extrusion designs — thus far no one has broken or replaced much more than a belt or a V-wheel ’cause it broke.

I don't have a shapeoko but I have used mine almost everyday for 3 months for in a small craft business endeavor with very little problem. Some little things can go wrong as already mentioned, but for the most part you stand the chance of burning the router, a motor, electronics, and maybe a bearing or belt. A well built machine should last a while.

Wood cutting builds up crap, be it sap or carbon.
You need to clean off any build up. There are proper cleaners but a lot of people simply soak in oven clearer.

Do Not use Oven cleaner on any of the Aluminum parts! The main ingredient in oven cleaner reacts with aluminum and will eat it. Even short contact will cause the aluminum to start pitting (become rough on the surface). Also the gases that come off this reaction can be harmful. Be safe !!

I've had my Shapeoko3 since March and a typical days use ranges from 6 hours to 24 hours during peak times. I make plastic engraved name plates for lockers. I have had next to no problems with my machine once it is setup correctly. I replace brushes in the router which is a consumable item and expected.
