Cleaning bits

Post by apspurgeon » Wed May 22, 2019 7:17 am

HI all,

I had a number of bits with blacken burn marks and hardened/baked on debris.
They may be a bit blunted, but still have life but were marking the material I am milling with burn marks from the baked on debris.

I decided to try putting some detergent / degreaser in an ultrasonic cleaner (like for jewelry)

The outcome was impressive! I could see the marks/degree floating away from the endmill and after 10mins they came out like (almost) new.
Sadly I didn't take before photo's.....

The other product you can use and I use it on saw blades as well is PB Blaster.
