Edward -

Stepper motors of either nema-17 or nema-23 (if they are part of normal stock)
Power cut off switch
power supply
Barrier Terminal strip
grbl shield
uno

All the parts.

I was in the 1st batch shipment and could use everything but the stepper motors because I have 9 nema-23's from an order to build a repstrap machine (actually 3 machines) now I am building a 4' x 4' CNC machine and only need 3 channels to make it work. But all the parts that were shipped would work just fine.

Got it! Thanks for the suggestion Bob, we'll see what we can do!

Actually, before we start adding on, I'd like to see a one additional SKU added to the basic kit --- an electronics kit which makes up what the Full Kit has that the Mechanical Kit doesn't --- that way, one could make two smaller purchases, spreading out the pain a bit and making it easier to get past the finance committee.

Can you add an option to order a longer cutting area? This would also pair with the Dual drive.

I would like to build the following:

Nema 23 Motors with 0.9 degrees
900mm x 900mm
Dual drive on gantry
acme screw on Z-axis

I like the idea to be able to swap parts.
I plan to upgrade my machine soon, and after that I'll have quite some spare parts lying around (3 pieces of MakerSlide, Endplates, Y-plates, belt, that is, the biggest part of a mechanical kit. Maybe I'll try to sell that to compensate for my losses).
If I could have changed some options when ordering it that would have probably saved me $200 (shipping costs and import taxes are half of that).
You should just add some big red note that beginners/people who need very exact instructions should probably not order the upgrades (or, better, improve the documentation accordingly).

I'm just about to order the parts for a dual-drive, so that would make me another yes vote.

Add me to the "yes please" list - dual drive option would have been a nice plus - now that I've already sourced parts... ;-)

I'd also think a more modular approach would be good as well - have a "mechanical" kit, then let me pick the other "modules" I wanted - "Electronics", "Spindle & Tools", "Motors", "Power Supply", etc. In a perfect world you'd also let me choose different length 'slide to extend the y-axis.

I personally ordered a mechanical kit only as I had motors, power supply, and a dremel laying around, but then had to source my electronics.

I'd love a dual motor upgrade kit.

Also how about a larger cutting area upgrade - to make the cut area 1000mm x 500mm

That's something else we're working on. Right now we're selling makerslide in 200, 375, 1000, and 1800mm sections, but I'd really like to add a 750mm in there to fill the gap between stock shapeoko and the 1m sticks.
