1/8" collet options?

I've been considering an HF 1/4" trim router, but not finding a 1/8" collet for it.

Suggestions?

Is there a 1/8" collet for it?

If not, what are the least expensive options for something w/ a 1/8" collet? Trying to buy local w/ cash and haven't been able to find a DW660 in stock. Best option I've found thus far would be the Chicago Electric Cut Out Tool: http://www.harborfreight.com/electric-c ... 42831.html --- disadvantages:

- odd shape makes mounting more difficult
- uneven reviews
- will need to work up a dust collection device for it

Your cheapest option is these adapter bushings: http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite ... rings.html

I have the 1/4" - 1/8" and the 1/4" - 3/16" bushings and have used them a little bit. I have not checked the runout of either my router or the bits with these adaptors.

Wow! That is cheap.

Just when I'd almost convinced myself to go w/a Porter Cable 450 (Dewalt DPW611 equiv. --- 'cept that I just noticed that the Porter Cable isn't variable speed...) and a Precise Bits collet.

Okay, I guess we'll try a 3 part plan --- I'll try one of the bits I have in the Dremel, if that doesn't work, I'll consider the HF Trim Router, fallback is the Porter Cable.

If you wind up ordering anything from MLCS, they're having a special right now on their trim router: http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite ... 31015.html

It comes with 1/8" and 1/4" collets already.

I haven't tried this unit myself, I'm just on their mailing list.

I have that HF trim router and it does come with 1/8 and 1/4, even says so in the description. I haven't used the tool- I even got it for $15 after the coupon.
Shortly after I got it I found the DW660 for $56 AND free shipping, so I bought that.

I know the Harbor Freight Cut Out Tool which I linked has 1/4" and 1/8" collets --- the machine I want though, is the Harbor Freight 1/4" Trim Router:

http://www.harborfreight.com/1-4-quarte ... 44914.html

which AFAICT only comes w/ a 1/4" collet.

I'm very happy with the performance of my Rigid trim router - https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/trim-router

The body is a cylinder, so mounts are easy to make also.

The moment I saw Inventables announced a Bosch Colt mounting bracket, I switched from my plan for a DW660 to the Colt - especially because you can add the precision collet system from PreciseBits.

http://precisebits.com/products/equipme ... SG!!!#Tabs

It's essentially an ER20 collet system so I could add a full range of collets for other bit diameters besides 1/8 & 1/4.

Oh! This is exciting!

I just realized that the Precise Bits collet kit for the Bosch Colt also fits the Rigid 2401! That's the router I have!

Great, now I have to spend more money. :)
