Interesting. It's certainly more expensive in Canada (Rotozip or the Dewalt version both go for ~$85), but even Amazon shipping to Canada is around $75.

Tool weight for the Dewalt is listed at 3.2lbs

I am not sure how to calculate, but do you worry if that may be too much torque for the makerslide and carridge?

1/8" end-mills seem to cost a lot more than 1/4", at least here in the UK, so the extra cost of a spindle like this could be recouped quite quickly.

Searching for the best price in the UK I came across this cheaper alternative:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Electric- ... 500wt_1413

It's in the USA so not what I was looking for, and is lower power, but has 1/4" and 1/8" collets.

Edward,

Thanks so much for the feedback! Exciting to hear how well it works. I am curious to know what the limiting factor for speed would be! Rotary tool, frame, motors, ??? I am not suggesting you push the limits until something breaks, but if you do let us know about it! ;)

Chicago brand I believe is sold by Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/electric-c ... 42831.html

Here's the picture. As promised. I'll try to get some video tonight while I'm cutting parts!

Yeah. Bad ass is an apt description!

Do you plan on trying it with a router speed controller?

A speed controller would be a good idea. Any suggestions on a make/model?

Vacuum Attachment: That's on the to-do list. For now, my mask will have to suffice.

Unfortunately, no. Hopefuly someone can chime in with an inexpensive option to play with; Amazon, Harbor Freight, etc.

I came across this which would be fun to play with, but perhaps overkill for the Dewalt.
