Hi gang;
There are a number of 65mm aluminum spindle mounts available on Ebay ranging in price from $20 to $99-most from China:

All would require some kind of adapter plate to mate it with the Shapeoko, but that should be easy.
best regards

I installed my collet today. Testing with a broken end mill and a .001" dial indicator magnet mounted to my end plate, I see less than .001" deflection. Unless I did something wrong with my measurements, this looks VERY good! :D Very happy camper.

Thanks for doing a quick review. I'm glad to hear you had a different way to test and that the results were good for your collet as well.

I'm pretty happy with the whole experience. Everyone was great on the board, Mark at Elaire was awesome, and the collets turned out really nicely.

Dear Peter and gang,

My collet arrived last week (Wednesday, I believe). I was pretty amazed at the speed that it arrived!

So far I have been unable to actually test it, being preoccupied with building my eShapeoko :D I should be up and running soon.

I test fitted it into my RT0700c - I was slightly concerned that there would be some subtle differences between the older RT0700c and the RT0701c. As my earlier post described, the only noticeably difference I could tell was the base plate mounting screws were changed to 'industry standard'.
In any case the new collet fitted incredibly well into my router. Embarassingly, I did not know that Dremel type tools were 1/8" haha! I was under the assumption they were smaller. I had a few bits to hand and clamped one in to my router.

The bit shank fits snugly in to the collet when untightened. It is not loose, but also not tight. I think it as a perfect fit as it could be.

Clamping down the collet with the nut, I cannot see that it will ever come out save for a small explosion. This thing is rock solid.

Thanks Peter for organising this. I look forward to giving it a test when I can - my machine is moving happily, I am waiting on my power supply to get it fully going. :)
