Dewalt DWP611 - Looking for Solidworks model...

Post by garetbiglow » Thu Apr 30, 2015 7:48 pm

Hello everyone, just curious if anyone has come across a dewalt dwp611 solidworks model (or any 3D model really). I'd like one for the purpose of designing a dust shoe. If anyone has one, please let me know! Thanks!

They have the DWP616: https://grabcad.com/library/dewalt-router

Could you just scale it down for your purposes?

Hmm, isn’t there a Dewalt in some of the SO3 renderings? Ask Edward?

Thanks Will. I've seen that model, unfortunately the DWP616 doesn't have the same profile on the underside. I really want to do a lock-key type dust shoe like in this video:

I could draw it from scratch, just thought i'd do my due-diligence and see if there was a model I could draw from first.

PM me your address and I'll send you over the file. I found it at one time and downloaded it.

Is there a reason we can't post it to the wiki?

Well, he said he found the model, so I guess if there's a copyright issue then that would be a good reason. I created a representative model of my DNP611 in Fusion 360 which I used for designing my dust shoe. The model doesn't have any detail, it's basically just made of cylinders, but it is accurately measured to 0.01mm and I can post a measured drawing as well. I will have some time to post that later tonight.

I've recreated my 611 representative model with some details like the lock button recess and the rail cuts going up either side. I still can't cut the dang spiral accurately enough, but it's not necessary if you're just designing a dust shoe.

I thought I posted a model here a while ago. It isn't 100% perfect but gets the job done. Now if only I could get a SO3 DNP611 router mount without ordering the whole kit!!!

I just threw mine up on GrabCAD: https://grabcad.com/library/dewalt-dwp611-1

I did the whole thing with a cheap pair of digital calipers and radius gauge set. I couldn't figure out how to get it on here since the zip was apparently too big. It's not 100% detailed yet, but it looks cleaner than the other models I've been able to find. I'll post a newer version if I ever decide to go back and detail it more.

I pulled the model from GrabCAD and attempted to import it into Alibre. It looked totally different and I'm sure it is an Alibre problem.

Could you export the SolidWorks model into an stl for GrblGru?

Thanks.
