All motors are NEMA17 (you can see the Z motor; on X and Y you can see which holes the screws went in). The standard MakerSlide carriage plate, belt routing and anchors on X, black fasteners, and shape of motor plates all say Shapeoko, not eShapeOko. It's a Shapeoko of fairly recent vintage (zinc-plated plates, 22mm openings in the center, slots for the X rail), with dual X, twin-motor dual Y, belts on the outside on Y, longer rails, and open end plates too. Very neat. The spindle mount is probably the most solid part of the entire machine. :)

Hehe, it is 20mm + 10mm solid aluminium, and the clamp has steel rods too.

I am thinking of getting this too. What collets did you get for it? Will a 3mm collet fit a 1/8 tool and a 6mm fit a 1/4 tool? Or do I have to get both 3mm and 6mm + 3.175mm and 6.35mm? Im Norwegian, so I guess metric sizes is what they sell here, but I also think I will be ordering most from ebay, and there imperial sizes are more common.

Ah well, no reply here or from the seller. So I just went a head and ordered almost all of them. 3,0mm / 3,175mm / 4,0mm / 5,0mm / 6,0mm / 6,35mm and the unit comes with 8mm standard. I cheaped out on the clamp nuts though, and only ordered 2 extras. Although the shop (sorotec) recommends one nut for each collet. I don't expect to use all the collets very much, so I think it's fine. I also ordered the aluminium z axis mounting bracket just to be sure this part is properly machined. Curious to see how It will mount to the shapeoko 2. I suspect I will have to make some adapter.

Well their bracket is not very interesting to tighten it to a MakerSlide. I bought it and then got another one machined. As I am still not satisfied I need to design a new one.
The collets are complicated to remove from the nut, which makes it way easier to keep them together.

Sorry, I've been out of town and have not read your question until now..
But I actually did exactly the same as you did and bought all, because the price was right and this is "kjekt å ha" in the drawer.
It seems 3 and 3.175 is so close that I can use them for both 3.0mm and 1/8inch bits.. Don't know if it is wise to do that, but.. :?

"Kjekt å ha ja" ;) The kress is a high end tool that can be used with larger and sturdier machines in the future, so a few accessories cant hurt. At least that's what I tell myself :D
Did you buy a separate but for all the collets?

I've been milling with the kress 1050 for a while now, fantastic milling motor, I use an off the shelf mount and used some spare aluminum offcuts as spacers, works a treat, I did have to cut new mount holes in the carriage to fit it however

Any thoughts on a Kress 800 vs 1050? The 800 is 1.4 kg vs 1.7 for the 1050.
