How to mount DW660?
Re: How to mount DW660?
I didn't realize the Dewalt mounts were so much bigger than the generic spindle mounts. Looks like it doesn't matter that I snapped that top one I'm actually going to need two new and completely different mounts. I may have a temporary spindle I can use to cut the new mounts, but I'm probably going to have to use a ziptie to hold the top of the spindle in place. Not sure how that will go...
@IC - I saw on the Wiki you had cut a red pair of mounts for your Dewalt out of 3/8ths HDPE. Are those holding up well or should I consider using another material?
@Levlandau2 - Thanks for the offer. If I have issues with this temporary spindle situation I'll email you.

Re: How to mount DW660?
The mounts that I made out of HDPE are holding up quite well and are what I am still using. I think that with the shape of the DW660 and the design of the mounts that a harder plastic would be too brittle. As it is, you have to skid the DW660 up into the mounts with the cord facing out.pourcirm wrote:

Re: How to mount DW660?
If you remove the quick release collar on the DW660 you can use the stock mounts.
Granted it does bend the bracket when you tighten down the bolt...
Lower bracket goes right below the shaft lock and the upper bracket goes right below the AC input cable.
It does cover up 1 of the vent holes but I'm not too worried about it right now.

Re: How to mount DW660?
For what it's worth, I am still using the stock mounts with my DW660. I bent the cheap metal plate a little and it seems to fit fine. I plan to switch over, but the 7mm thick HDPE cutting board that I have atm is not thick enough to use (without joining multiple mounts together and using that). I plan to order some plastic at some time in the future and get some real mounts cut out. Right now I am still very occupied by the design workflow on linux, so I am not too worried about the mount atm..

So my temporary spindle option hasn't panned out and I haven't been able to repair my burnt out generic spindle. As such IC or levlandau2 would either of you still be willing to machine me a set of mounts for the new Dewalt I just ordered? PM me about any details we need to work out.

I am away from my machine for the next 3-4 weeks unfortunately. I would be happy to make you some mounts when I get back, if you can wait that long.

@pourcirm
I will try to mill the mounts for you tonight or tomorrow. I'll email you or post here when I am done.

Re: How to mount DW660?
Could someone do the same for me? I'll pay shipping. I can't find my dremel but I bought a DW660. Will be hard to mount one without the other

@Jimmy0x52
let me see how the first set mills, and if it works well I can probably quickly mill a second. That is assuming there are no surprises
