Makita collet for Carbide compact router?

Hello!

I purchased a SO3 a few months ago. With it came the carbide compact router.
Everything is working like a charm and I've been routing with the 1/4" router bit that came with it.

Now, the thing is that I live in Norway (Europe), where we have the metric system. I have been (table) routing for many years and therefor own many metric router bits. Metric router bits (6mm) obviously don't fit in the 1/4" collet.

In Europe we have a metric version of the Makita RT0700C and can easily find (metric) collets for it.

My question is than as follows, does the Makita collet fit directly in the carbide compact router?

I really hope someone can help me.

Kind regards,
Lars

Yes, the Carbide Compact Router is a rebadged Makita --- I'm surprised it works for you though --- does Norway have 110V, or are you using a step-down transformer?

You can either source Makita RT0700/0701 collets locally or get precision collets from Elaire Corp. in a variety of sizes:

Thank you for your reply!

I purchased the metric Makita collets locally in Norway.

We don’t have 110v here, no. I have 220/110 convertor to be able to use American tools.

WillAdams, thanks for sharing the link. And it's only if they know for sure what instruments they need for such wood working sphere. Recently I found this awesome best trim router website, where professionals gave the detailed explanations how one model differs from another ones, with all the options shown up. Awesome resource, and highly recommend.
