Yep... Now have most of the extruder wired up.. Will be following this approach using Mach3...

Have to complete:
- SSR's for extruder and bed heater
- finding suitable power supply to heat the extruder and bed.
- cutting a mounting bracket for the Z axis. Want to have something I can quickly swap between my DW660 and this.
- software tuning (Mach3/Slic3r)

DW660 Mount cut with extension to hold printer. Will be looking for a way to convert the 3x M5 bolts to some sort of quick release system.

I feel that that's way too flexible for the extruder. I have a much more rigid metal bracket; the extruder, with its fairly heavy motor, wobbles significantly when the Y moves jerkily. This results in wavy surfaces on the prints. I can't help but feel that this is going to be worse.

When I finally get around to printing, I'll keep an eye out for this. I don't expect to be flying around with significant speeds, so I don't there being too much jerking. Nor do I think my extruder (and Nema17) are that heavy.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that I have both the dual "Y" motor mods, as well as dual X MakerSlide. Both are Nema 23's as well. So, the gantry is pretty stiff.

If the bouncing ends up being a dealbreaker, you might try a Bowden-tube version.

Bart has made a QU-BowDen and promises source files soon (in the Delta Bot ORD thread at buildlog).

Very cool! Looking forward to a write-up on the wiki --- I really want to have printing functionality on my unit before my summer vacation.

The dual-functionality is very appealing --- would there be an advantage to / possibility of using both tools simultaneously? That'd help make up for the loss of working area. Perhaps using a cutter to machine / reach under overhangs?

Alternately, have you considered some sort of sliding dovetail quick release toolchange system?
