Extruders

Post by AtomSoft » Thu May 17, 2012 2:38 am

I plan to extend my shapeoko and whn i do i will have extra makerslide and end plates. So im planning to make a 3d printer ...

Where can i buy just extruders? I might make my own as well as the concept seems simple enough.

I had an MK7 from makerbot and now have the Stepper Plastruder from Makergear

respectively,
Here: http://store.makerbot.com/stepstruder-mk7-complete.html
and
Here: http://www.makergear.com/products/plastruder

I haven't used either, so I can't say which one is better. Tinyworkshop.com has my old MK7 and he has a writeup on both here: http://tinyworkshop.org/3d-printing/int ... e-odd-end/

I had a feeling this was simple to make. So why the $200 price tags?

I went with a Wades Reloaded extruder and a J Head hot end. Get someone to print the Wades Reloaded for you, buy the required hardware and a stepper, and you can probably put it together for less than $100.

Enraged... you ROCK!

That info and links was just what i needed...

I think with a CNC and 3D Printer I would be able to produce tons of things.

You can get the printed extruder parts easily on eBay. I can highly recommend the makergear hotend. I have one with the 0.5 mm nozzle. It prints easily but I wish resolution was better. Just haven't gotten around to ordering a 0.35. This is on a prusa.
