Hi guys,

Let me announce a new IndieGoGo campaign to support development of a slicer and 3D printing software called 3DimMaker which is going to be released as open source.

Motivated by 3D printer producers needs, we started developing 3DimMaker almost 2 years ago. Our main goal was to develop a reliable 3D printing instrument for FDM printing large and complex models with thin parts and erroneous definition of the surface. Now, you can help 3DimMaker to become free of charge and open source.

Visit our IndieGoGo campaign for more details on our goals and what 3DimMaker and its slicer can do:

If you like 3DimMaker, please share this email, or link to the campaign, with your friends, colleagues and followers and help us push ahead with open source 3DimMaker development.

Thank you!

Best regards,

3DimMaker Development Team

Looks interesting, and your website says it'll be Open Sourced under the Apache License v2, which is a good choice.

Hopefully you put it on GitHub, and not SourceForge. SourceForge has developed a very bad reputation from their new owners doing shady things. :(

For now, we have our open source projects hosted on Bitbucket which is quite similar to Github, maybe less powerfull and less known. But we can think of Github as well...

The network effect of GitHub (from their very large userbase) is valuable, and worth considering. That's just one person's opinion anyway. ;)

AFAIK, Altassian is a decent company, so you're not wrong going with Bitbucket. OTOH, GitHub's network effect can be helpful. OTTH, if your code is already on Bitbucket, it also makes sense to stay there.

Meh.

For this it's fine. I'm with a big enterprise customer and we're kind of regretting it.
