Re: BobCAD CAM V24 Mill Standard & BobART For only $149

V24 Mill Standard Program $100
V24 BobART Pro $49

So you are looking at $149 for the whole package. This software would be delivered by download and support would come direct from this community ( by me and other power users )
Is this offer still valid? I might be interested...

Is BobCAD able to generate Volumill toolpaths? Volumill toolpath is just the best when using small cutters, like many Shapeoko owners do. Just wondering if I should stick with CAMWorks.

Found anFAQ which only lists two programs. Looking a bit more, found a page discussing such: http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCCAMToolpaths.htm

Hi Al,

I'm interested in the V24 offer...is it still valid?

I was evaluating also CamBam, and while it has its own limitations, the tabbing feature to cut small objects it's great and easy to use.

Do you have any example video on how to make tabs (not with full stock heghit, in CamBam I usually do triangular 5mm wide and 5mm high tabs) also in BobCAD?

I want to be sure there is a feasible workaround to obtain tabs easily...

Thank you very much!

Don't waist your time. I was finally able to get rid of my license of v27 with BobART on eBay and recoup some of the money that I waisted on it. There are many better alternatives. Looking back I would have rather slammed my head in a car door repeatedly than deal with the nightmare that was my BobCAD experience. If the software worked and did what it was advertised to do, it would be great. But it is plagued by crashes and sluggish performance, even on the most high-end machines. Too many bugs to count, you must pay out the nose for tech-support and training. The sales staff will call and hound you, not to mention they are like bad used car salesmen. The price is negotiable. They just try to get as much as they can out of you. Go on amazon and look at all of the one star reviews. Don't step on the land mine that is BobCAD like I did.

Where and why to use specific cutting strategies with your cam system is one of the learning curves any CAD CAM programmer faces. This video walks through the advantages of BobCAD's Z level finish and Z Level Rough to help any user understand when, where and why to use these cutting options.
