Where to get this shim?

Post by DRobs86 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 12:56 pm

I need a washer that is about 5 ID (or a little oversized for clearance of a 5mm bolt) with an OD of about 8mm or less. This is not a standard size. I didn't see anything at Fastenal. Does anyone have any advice on where to get it?

Any specific type of washer? On RC cars we use 5mm fiber washers a lot as bearing spacers, Part number is 1985
5mm X 8mm X 0.5mm ptfe coated teflon washers

eBay or local hobby shop are easiest sources

Outstanding. Thanks for the help on it. As I think about it more, I am probably going to be safer with a 5 mm ID and 7 mm OD. I put my micrometer back on it and if it's a little off centered when I tighten things up then I'll be on the outer race. I did see some shims in that ID and OD, but they were 0.1mm - 0.3mm.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the pointer CV. I ended up ordering some of the traxxas washers that SpeedRacer referenced. If those prove to be too close of a fit I may have to grab some from you.
