Why would anyone use a downcut bit for metalwork?
The big reason to use downcut bits is that they leave a much cleaner edge on top of woodlike materials than a standard upcut bit does.
Cut-through edges as worse than for upcut bits, and chaff stransport is also poor.
You don't cut deep with them without doing parallell passes so that the chaff can be easily pushed aside, unless you have some very efficient dust extraction.

I have a remote camera that I can view through my phone when I need to step away for a bathroom break. Plus two smoke detectors and two fire extinguishers.

Now THAT was scary. So many examples of what not to do. But I couldn't stop watching. I also thought it was a kinda funny how fast the video stopped right after the machine was stopped.
