I'm a bad Shapeoko owner, I don't use my machine nearly as much as I should.
But I did use it a few weeks ago and it worked great.
I used it to make a crank wheel for a project.

When I got the new Z plate installed I discovered that I could no longer reach the bed of the machine, so I ended up removing the lift blocks under the rails.
So no, I can no longer get material under the front and rear rails. I could still run long skinny material under the Y rails if I wanted.

Yeah, that's part of why I'm still using the old Z-axis plate w/ a taller 65mm spindle mount (which seems to take the bend / chatter potential out).
