New electronics

Post by electrotwelve » Mon Jun 04, 2018 2:29 pm

Hey folks! I'm an electronics engineer and I've been tinkering with CNCs for about 2 years now. I do not own a Shapeoko but I do have my own custom CNC. I recently developed my own electronics for it. Its an integrated 4-axes controller with four 4A Toshiba drivers. It has multiple logic control inputs. There is an onboard grbl controller and the controller also works with LinuxCNC and Mach3/4 softwares. It has all the physical interfaces necessary as well. If this is something that might of interest to you, I'm crowdfunding the controller here. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Out of curiosity, why the choice of GRBL instead of something more advanced like g2core?

The board looks like you've spent heaps of time and effort on it, so it's kind of surprising (to me) that it's using the lowest-possible-cpu solution.

Would it be difficult to adjust the cpu on the board to (say) something ARM based instead?
