I decided that fastening the PVC wasn't necessary clamping should suffice.

I picked up a really cool little tool kit recently. Helps with a lot of small stuff. Similar to this one on ebay.

Made for phones and computers, it seems to have a bunch of the tools i was needing for this small work.

Since, I've gotten the official T-track and installed it, adding the previous lengths in-between (fortuitously the dimensions came out pretty well --- just needed to cut two pieces custom. I've also decided that the original 16" lengths of filler material make more sense (easy enough to add spacers where necessary for clamps).

Currently using a 3D printed dust shoe from Offaxislabs which works quite well.
