Yeah, the DW660 is really powerful, and if I wasn't running this thing in my apartment, then I would take the power over the noise. However, I, and others here, am sadly lacking in the super-cool workshop space catagory, so some compromises must be madeImprobable Construct wrote:It should also be noted that the Chinese spindle is much, much less powerful.

I am not saying that the 300W is bad. I just wanted to point out that with the noise reduction you also have a serious power reduction.
If noise is your primary concern then the 300W spindle is probably a good choice.
If you are like me and have a large working area, you might be more concerned with max speed and depth of cut.
Nice phone dock, by the wayImprobable Construct wrote:Here is a picture of two cuts with the same G-code and endmill.

I totally hear you on that one. I was really excited about the lack of noise but disappointed with the performance.Improbable Construct wrote:[quote="Tom Smith"

I am anticipating cuts in the 1mm or less at a feed rate of less than 800mm/min, as opposed to the 2mm@ 1400mm/min with the Dewalt. Sometimes tradeoffs are necessary, right?

Reminds me of the place I was in 10 years ago - nice big garage, but the breaker box for all the outlets in it was in the attic of the house. So whenever I would blow the breaker with my radial arm saw (which happened often) I had to get the ladder, climb up to the attic, and crawl halfway across the house to flip the breaker. Whoever wired that place must have been on something...Improbable Construct wrote:By the way the garage in my rental house only has one 20 amp circuit for the whole garage including the lights and garage door opener.
Did you find 220v options with low noise AND power? Please let us know..Improbable Construct wrote:
I am still looking for something with the power of the DeWalt and the quietness of the 300W spindle.
There are lots of 220v options but not much that runs on 110v.
