I'm looking for an inexpensive hotend to test out my ShapeOko as a printer. I was thinking a cheap Chinese E3D knockoff. What are you using? Any suggestions for a sub $50 end? What extruder are you using?

Don't cheap out on the hot end.
It determines the final aspects of how well a machine will extrude. Get a J-head from hotends.com or something w/ a similar reputation for quality and performance.

I reeeallly want to splurge and get the E3D Chimaera. But I've already sunk more into this rebuild than I had budgeted (ain't that how it always works!) I have a Printrbot that I could just cannibalize the hotend and extruder from, but that doesn't seem very fun!
