X- has started to go X+?
Hello All,
Out of the blue I am having issues with the x- on my Shapeoko 3 xxl. When I try to drive (Jog) my machine with Motion 3 all the commands work correctly except x-. Motion thinks the machine is traveling in the negative direction but in reality it is going x+. All other commands are working as normal, X+, Y- and +, and Z- and +. I'm confused as this has come out of nowhere... Is this a physical connection problem (nothing has changed since assembly) or a program problem?

Re: X- has started to go X+?
Most likely it's a wiring problem --- stepper drivers are weird and can be reversed in a number of ways, and it's possible for a lost connection on a wire to cause the problem you're seeing.
You should check the wiring before each use per: http://docs.carbide3d.com/general-faq/m ... checklist/
If you don't see anything obviously wrong and easily correctible, please check using a multimeter if possible. If that's not an option, contact us at support@carbide3d.com and we'll do our best to get things fixed up.

Did you ever get a fix to the X axis problem? I just started with the same thing.

Pulled apart the wiring harness today, didn't see anything glaring. Pulling out the multimeter tonight... To be continued

Another possibility is using CM3 w/ Grbl 1.1 --- please check on that --- it behaves oddly, and the config doesn't line up, so apparently can cause some oddities.

Re: X- has started to go X+?
Just as a general thought, if you're still hitting this problem would you be ok to cut-n-paste the values for your GRBL settings here?
You can get them by typing the "$$" command directly the Carbide Motion console part where it accepts direct GRBL commands. It should spit out a list of all the GRBL settings.
Asking this because although it's unusual... it could be the case that one of the settings has gone weird somehow. The settings can control which direction each axis goes, so if all else fails you can just change the setting in GRBL and it should then work as it used to.
